IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service – The TAS is an independent organization within the IRS that helps taxpayers who are experiencing unresolved federal tax problems. The TAS helps with individual and business tax issues after you have tried to resolve your issue through normal IRS channels but haven’t gotten anywhere. IRS Fresh Start Program – This initiative changes IRS collection practices regarding notice of federal tax liens, installment agreements and offers in compromise.
Small Business and Self-Employed Tax Center – If you file Form 1040, Schedules C, E, F or Form 2106, or if your business has less than $10 million in assets, find helpful services here such as downloading forms and publications, and helpful information on everything from the Affordable Care Act to Understanding a Federal Tax Lien.
California Board of Equalization – The BOE is responsible for sales and use taxes and property tax programs, and other taxes, in the state of California. BOE also hears franchise tax and income tax appeals.
Employment Development Department – EDD oversees payroll taxes for companies operating in California. Patrick McGinnis represents employers in EDD payroll tax audit appeals on questions such as whether workers are employees or independent contractors.
Franchise Tax Board – The FTB administers the Personal Income Tax and Corporation Tax for the state of California. The FTB also intercepts refunds for people owing certain delinquent debts and conducts criminal investigations into compliance with state tax laws.
